Here's yesterdays post.
I was pretty excited to see this guy again. Last year, we (or one that looked just like him) had many times of me shooting him. He was really my number one subject with my 70-300 Macro. Now, I got the opportunity to try out my 90mm macro, that does a true 1:1 and is actually sharp (that old one was not good at all)
These are straight from camera jpegs, will edit the raw's later. Haven't even uploaded them yet
Well, I won I suppose. It's not that big a deal, it's only the district art show, so it's not much but it's something I suppose. I didn't even know I was entered till I was told I won, lol.
And the winning image
To be honest, I think it won more for the fact that it was IR than any other merit.
And now, for the exciting part. I've seen it mentioned in passing, and always had the idea in the back of my mind, was to make a ring flash out of fiber optics. Well, after much diligent looking (not) I stumbled on a place that actually sells the stuff, and it's only about 1$ a foot, less than 30$ shipped, with tax, and tools, nice! So I'm gonna do it if it's feasible. This makes me think it is, I want mine to be something like this guys

Congratulations on your win! That is a great photo, and well-deserving of a win.
The dragonfly (or whatever he is) is awesome! Nice work!
Those are great macro images. I love the third one. How'd you get him to pose for you? How far away from the lens was he?
Stop being modest - Your image won because it's an amazing image. Great compositions and of coarse the IR adds to the drama. Congratulations.
eh, and good luck with that contraption.
Congrats! That is an awesome picture that won! I love the bug too (not sure what it is - lol - but it looks cool!).
Great macro work!! You are getting really GOOD!! Congratulations on your win! The fiberoptic flash looks interesting.
That is GREAT! I've never won anything for my photography - so it's a lot of something! My kids are in LOVE with that bug shot, me? Not so much. Ok, it is really cool. I'd never have known what it's face looked like had you not shown that. So, thanks? ;)
