Foreword

Well, this is my 365 Blog. I want to give you a warning.

1) I may not update the day I take the photograph. I'm slow sometimes. And this will not be a self portrait blog, sorry :)

2) This may be a 355, 345, or a plain 35 blog, rather than a 365. I will do my best, lol

3) I feel like three is a good number, and wanted to add it to the list. There is no three

Back to this

Seems I haven’t been shooting near as much as I would like lately.  I’m not crazy busy now.  It’s even easier for me to transfer photo’s off my card with my new reader.  I installed USB 2.0 drivers (who new I had them?) so my transfers are faster than ever.  I now even have my internet computer and my editor computer one and the same now, thanks to the recent fiasco (some good came of it).  I’m running out of excuses, but I’m just not feeling it these last two weeks, with the exception of those water droplets, which were real fun.  So looks like I’m back to taking random shots to see what happens, lol.  Least it’s a good way to learn a bit about light.

And here’s the setup shot.  The top is my striplight that I made (still love that thing, usually either the first mod I reach for, after the big softbox, but I like it better) and the light to the left is my big softbox.  That hanging piece of paper is stuck there as a reflector.

Stapler (2 of 2)

This is written using Windows Live Writer as per Elli’s help.  I like it!  So much easier to use that blogger!!  But I have yet to hit the post button, so we’ll see what happens when I do.

EDIT: To test that it can edit

EDIT II: It works sooooo nice!

The remains

Here's what's left after the issues with my computer of what I took. Fortunatly, nothing really important gor lost, and nothing old did either.

Quick question, does anyone know why I can't upload pics from my HD, but only through a URL?

These are my recent droplet photos, like the color little better ;)
What I did was put a colorful object behind to reflect off the water, and lit that with flash

These bw's are old files, but I edited them from color to bw. How do you like the conversion? Still playing around, cc much appreciated

EDIT: Looks like upload problems persist, please hold
EDIT II: Finally got an upload, but way inconvenient, anyone know what I'm doing? Using Chrome if that helps

I'm back!!!!!

Sorry, thank you Tess and Elli for informing about my internet issues, they seem to be fixed now (knock on wood...again)

I'll post tommorow, having trouble loading to posts right now :(

Quick Catchup

Played around with water droplets, it looked pretty boring, so I did alot of PP on it, and I think it turned out pretty nice.  I'll have to try getting some color in there though somehow.

Strobist Assn 3.  Make a image of water, with the label clearly visible, that makes you want some.   Well, there's water, and the labels there, so hopefully you want it :P

Setup is pretty simple.  One flash snooter on the bottle and ground, camera left, and a bit in front of it.  Another flash bare on high power slightly above and almost directly behind the bottle to put some light into all those little droplets coming off.  I was standing over the bottle to aim where I dropped it and fired the camera by remote.  All that water coming out of the bottle?  Whent right to my face, lol.

Here's yesterdays post.

I was pretty excited to see this guy again.  Last year, we (or one that looked just like him) had many times of me shooting him.  He was really my number one subject with my 70-300 Macro.  Now, I got the opportunity to try out my 90mm macro, that does a true 1:1 and is actually sharp (that old one was not good at all)

These are straight from camera jpegs, will edit the raw's later.  Haven't even uploaded them yet

And todays post

Well, I won I suppose.  It's not that big a deal, it's only the district art show, so it's not much but it's something I suppose.  I didn't even know I was entered till I was told I won, lol.

And the winning image

To be honest, I think it won more for the fact that it was IR than any other merit.

And now, for the exciting part.  I've seen it mentioned in passing, and always had the idea in the back of my mind, was to make a ring flash out of fiber optics.  Well, after much diligent looking (not) I stumbled on a place that actually sells the stuff, and it's only about 1$ a foot, less than 30$ shipped, with tax, and tools, nice!  So I'm gonna do it if it's feasible.  This makes me think it is, I want mine to be something like this guys

This one's thanks to you Tess

I'm sure most of ya remember Tess's post when she used an iPhone as a light.  Well, I tried it tonight.  No where near as good, and it doesn't even really have a subject, lol, but here it is.

The sorta subject is an old cup I made when I was first learning the lathe.  Oooooold stuff, and not all that good.  But it is what it is.

For light, I used a light app on a friends iPhone, and put it on white for the body of the cup, and rud on top, because I can

Ironic

Well, there's been alot of talk about grey cards lately.  Walk into photo class today, and what has Brooks Institute given us?  Grey cards.  Cheapy, printed on paper cards, but grey cards none the less.  Should be interesting to use.  Brooke's might always be on you about joining, but hey, it's not always so bad, haha.  I got like, 4, and there were extras

Unusual Occurance

I gt to see my Grandfather this weekend, whom I never see.  He lives quite a ways a way, and is always traveling, because of my stepgrandma's job.  But he was here this weekend!

Left to right: Cousin, random guy, brother, grandfather, sister, cousin

I survived!

AP physics is done!  Barely, lol.  All the people who took the AP test today agree, that was the hardest test, bar none, that we've ever taken, from the hardest we've ever taken!  Crazy!  But it's all over, yay!  Only two more tests to go.

I'm DONE with this!

Decision

Well, I talked with a cousin of mine today, and we started talkinga about music, and I realized, though I know nothing about the artists, genre's, what have you, there was actually a certain type of music I liked, more songs than I thought (for those of you that don't know, I don't listen to music) So I figured I'd post a song here and there that I hear and like.  I tend to like songs with real meaning and depth behind them.  Who knew, I mean it's me!  Lol

So here's my first song, probably one of my favorites of all time that I've heard, or one of two faveorites at least.

A shocking day

What a day.  I learned you cannot say you've truly lived till you've had 20,000 volts run through you, LOL.  The auto shop was playing with sparkplugs and whatnot on cars (I'm no car person, so don't ask specifics)  Well, the auto teacher came to my physics class and invited us to play with them with his class.  Who were we to resist, it's electromagnetics, physics! ;)

Well, after the auto teached finished explaining (in our terms) what was going on, and the glazed looks from the auto students who had no idea what magnetic inductance is, he got to the good part.  20,000 volts could be run through that thing, at SUPER low current (current kills, volts are just fun) and we should all get in a chain and get zapped.  Naturally, being big tough guys (only one girl in that whole room, one of my friends, the validictorian, and even she did it once, but had the smarts to quit there, lol)  we all eagerly did it, multiple times.  Nothing funnier than seeing a bunch of us guys all holding hands, than jumping and jerking at once, LOL.  Didn't hurt much, but it did make you jerk around a bit ;)

To give you an idea how much 20,000 volts it, it's like stringing 13,333 AA batteries together!

Oh, and Elli, thanks a million, downloaded Google Chrome, thing runs like a dream!

And there goes another one

Well, one of my friends OD'd the other day. Unfortunatly, that's how things go, you go to high school (at least mine) you know quite a few people that do this crap. This one's the worst OD yet though.

First of all, the guy who OD'd, has never done drugs before. Way to pick a time to start. But that's not even the worst of it. The guy who gave it to him, a friend of his, told him they were sleeping pills. Instead, they were HEAVY duty brain medication to help with Bi-polar disease. One a day absolute max, he had 2 in less than a minute. Why? He was bet 10$. 10 dollars!! Better yet? Both seniors, and they did it on school campus. That's why I'm posting this today. Found out one's for sure not graduating, no diploma, no nothing, adult school for him next year and a permant mark for possesion and distribution, court date's coming up. The other one, the one who took them, he's probably in the same boat. Right before graduation. A few weeks to go, and they screw up this badly? Sad.

Bright side, one AP test down today, AP Lit, alot easier than I thought. I was most afraid of this one, so that's hopefully a good sign!

May 6, 2009

I met...

Greg Chamitoff!! For those that don't know, Dr. Chamitoff is an astronaut, who's flown aboard the ISS, and is an old college roomie of my AP physics teacher and robotics coach. Hence we got to meet him.

Me and one of my Friends. Got to talk to him, a pretty cool guy!

Little explanation

Yep, I know, your probably tired of these posts from me, but here's another one. Sorry I haven't been posting. It's AP testing week 1, and next week is week 2. Essentially, these two weeks decide weather or not everything I've done since the begining of the year in most of my classes has been worth anything at all. Lot of pressure, TOUGH tests, review work and strudying all over the place, just a crazy time. Bright side it, all my classes but one is AP classes, so May 15th and on, I'm pretty much done with school! Thanks for understanding, I'll post when I can. Mainly depends on if there's any pics worth showing that day :P

Not a big image, but big news

For those of you who haven't seen, Melissa is pregnant! She wanted it a secret before, but decided it's ok to tell. If you haven't already, go congratulate her, it's been an interesting trip for her (my name stays out of it)

Anyway. pic for today. Not terribly exciting. Might submit for eye challenge
